Lonesome, yet awesome. Somehow nostalgic. Definitely beautiful.

This is one of my favorites, as Black Rock Harbor is where I moor my sailboat. From the correct angle at Seaside Park, you can actually see Penfield Reef Light in the distance. Check out these pics:

What is interesting is that I am less than 1/2 mile from Black Rock (Fayerweather) Light, but almost 2.5 miles to Fayerweather. Amazing what perspective does .. .

Never met a lighthouse I didn't like. Even if one is just a post with a light on top I'll take it! This one is particularly nice. I like it's solid footing.

Liked your post below re: the lobster population in the Sound, pricing etc. Here in Cutchogue we have a fish market, Braun's, that is well worth a visit. There are several Braun's trucks supplying East End restaurants. They also have fabulous take out, casual eat in or in good weather in their tent with picnic tables. They have a good sushi menu too, AND if you're there you're 5 minutes from my place.

I love these photos! BTW: I'm going to New Haven tomorrow to visit daughter. I think. It is, afterall, 1:30am and I'm still baking bread to take to her. Hope I make it!

I love these photos. The black and white along with the stark trees create an interesting mood.

Mark,
There was a keeper's house at one time, but it was destroyed by fire.

Frank,
I spent a few nights on a mooring at BRYC years ago, and remember that view well. Unfortunately the camera I use now doesn't have very good zoom capabilities. I posted links of yours. If that's a problem, let me know.

Burlesdon,
I am a big lighthouse fan too. This one was in poor shape for years. A few individuals deserve a lot of credit for organizing the restoration. The Lighthouse Friends link tells their story.

Ocean Girl, Erin, Steve, Erica, Maureen;
Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

Andree,
I hope you made it! There are two nice lighthouses in New haven.

Jose,
Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately your text didn't translate properly. It was a bunch of squares, so I had to delete it. I was able to decipher some of it. Thank you!

When I look at one of the links you provide, it looks like another lighthouse, bigger and out to sea more, exists?

Brenda,
That's the magic of a powerful zoom lense.
Fayerweather is a narrow piece of land, so from certain angles it can look very remote.
