the sand is so white there in the second pic!

LIS isn't really known for it's great beaches. A lot of them are pebbly, and some (bottom photo) actually had sand trucked in. The open ocean beaches on the south shore of LI, and cape Cod are much sandier and nicer. But there are some good stretches of beach.
